This is a WeChat group composed mainly of Lisu people from Nujiang

Some work and live in other provinces, while others stay local. In a way, the WeChat group crosses the geographical barrier and offers a virtual space for meeting and singing together, as well as a different way of listening.

This video was provided by the singer. She got married and emigrated to another province years ago. It's a common story we often hear when traveling to Nujiang: a woman from Nujiang got married thousands of kilometers away in eastern China, thanks to an introduction from another villager. As a result, the woman's family received a considerable dowry, and the introducer also received an introductory commission.

The duet between this woman and a man from the WeChat group lasts around 24 minutes. It begins with the man singing, "My family was poor and your parents objected to us being together," and the woman saying, "Luckily we found each other on WeChat, otherwise it would be impossible for us to sing together." They go on to sing of love and desire, while expressing the impossibility of being together. It's worth noting that the content they sing is not exchanged in a private space, but rather in a WeChat group with around 300 members. Consequently, this "romantic" content benefits from a certain degree of publicity, like a play performed by the two singers.

We have decided to blur the video due to the privacy of members in this WeChat group. The use of this video has been approved by the video provider.
