Solastalgia — a neologism that combines the words nostalgia, solace and desolation — to describe their profound sense of loss and isolation, and the overwhelming feelings of powerlessness that came with it

The term was coined by "Australian environmental philosopher Glenn Albrecht, who defined it, in a 2004 essay", as a profound distress caused by perceived irreversible changes in our environment, resulting in "an erosion of the sense of belonging (identity) to a particular place".
Worldwide, there is an increase in ecosystem distress syndromes matched by a corresponding increase in human distress syndromes.
This certainly also relates to the situation experienced by trees, rooted in place as they are.
