Researcher, Writer, Filmmaker

Hongyu is active in a variety of areas such as writing, filmmaking and curating. Currently, she is interested in studying and recording our times through interdisciplinary and intertechnical working and research methods.

Hongyu was born in 1989 in Sichuan. As a freelance writer, she first wrote interviews and reports on musicians, exhibitions, plays, etc. for magazines, and then expanded her writing activities to non-fiction articles on traditional culture and knowledge, ethnic identity, gender identity, civil war and refugee issues, alternative plantations, land rights, cross-border migration and other issues, mainly in Southeast Asia, South Asia and China.

On the other hand, she is also involved in preliminary research, script writing, shooting, editing or producing documentary projects.

Hongyu has been working as an independent curator since 2018.
