My name is Tony Makiese, I live in DRCongo

I want to share my little story, the story of my grandmother, me and the earth (agricultural). I didn't have the chance to go to school after my two parents died in a tragic road accident in the province of Bandundu, and I grew up with my grandmother, who taught me to love, to care and to work the earth, because she used to say that if you take care of the earth, it will take care of you, that the earth is all the wealth we have, and look how beautiful it is to contribute to a system that takes care of the people around you, through the fruits of your hands.

I loved helping her and I made it my job, it's been 7 years since she died and I love my inheritance, I take care of it, but it doesn't stop people throwing rubbish at night, discouraging me or even making fun of me, like a young man doing a woman's job.

I love what I do because I'm at peace with the earth, with myself, and I know that when I die it will take care of me too.
