Águas Claras, a neighborhood marked by its rich cultural and historical diversity, is also a place where the alleys tell stories of resistance, community and transformation

The alleys of Águas Claras, often seen as marginal spaces, are actually pulsating veins of everyday life, where creativity and solidarity flourish in the midst of so many challenges, such as the lack of basic sanitation, health, education, violence and banditry.

The alleys are not just narrow passageways between buildings, but spaces where local culture manifests itself and passes on its stories. In them, residents gather to exchange knowledge, celebrate festivities and strengthen community ties. On the walls of the alleys we see graffiti and murals that express the identity and struggles of the local population, transforming what could be a desolate environment into an open-air art gallery.

Recycling and reusing materials are also common practices in Brazil's peripheries. Residents, with their inventiveness, find ways to give new life to discarded objects, creating everything from toys for children to furniture and useful tools for everyday life. In the alleys, music and dance are constant elements. Whether it's an improvised batuque, a capoeira circle or a group of young people rehearsing hip-hop or pagodão choreographies, artistic expression is a vital force that unites the community and offers a positive outlet for young people's energies. These moments of joy and creation are testimony to the transformative power of art in people's lives. They are symbols of resistance, creativity and community. They are places where life pulses intensely, where every corner tells a story and where each person contributes to a future for the population abandoned by the state.
