Dance-maker, Improviser, Researcher

Based in Marseille, France, Chloé Saffores (FR) dances, improvises, performs, teaches, directs, and studies together with transféminists, compost-humanist theories, and contemporary experimental dance. They hold a BA in Psychology (Aix-Marseille University, 2018) and a MA in Improvisation (dir. of Alice Godfroy, Côte d’Azur University, 2021), where their research focused on the diffraction of authorship in Real Time Composition, after meeting João Fiadeiro and Emma Bigé in 2019. Chloé was part of PACAP5 - Performing Arts Advanced Programme, curated by João Fiadeiro (Forum Dança, 2021-2022).

Since 2022, they are the founder and director of MYOB (Mind Your Own Business), a transdisciplinary company and research laboratory based in Marseille for bringing together choreographic creation, pedagogy and artistic research. Passionate about transmission, they co-curate games, improvisation and composition laboratories with Anne Mutuel and Nirvan Navrin ; they collaborate with Adrien Bardi Bienenstock on the research creation Ludothèque grise (Montévidéo, Marseille w/EUR CREATES). Chloé gives regular workshops in Marseille, invited by different structures to teach Real Time Composition and assists in the development of other artists’ works, such as SinceTmybodyisanarchive (They Are Trying To Be A Good Boy) (2025) from Léo love Gentil in dialogue with Alain Buffard’s Good Boy (1998).

In Basel, Chloé is part of The Witness (studying the unexpected companions of the gardens of the city) and is developing research with Ed Williams on the relationship between musical composition, stage performance and Real Time Composition. In their choreographic work they currently investigate relations and decision-making processes in collective practices, including games with rules to read, write and de/compose together, and author-less compositions with a focus on the spaces between handling and manipulating, direction and authoritarianism, humility and humiliation, submission, domination and tenderness. Bringing together Real Time Composition, ecosomatic, BDSM and improvisation practicies, Chloé currently directs and performs DE/CHARGE (2023), a circus-dance duet with Antoine Bouvier supported by witnesses on stage and a composition by Ed Williams for microtonal organ.
