As the Batwa forge a living out of the forest, cracking stones for sale to buyers constructing houses is one of the activities they have resorted to

It is an economic activity which does not pay much but keeps the whole family occupied including women and children. Sometimes it poses a danger to the women and children because of the nature of work in handling sharp heavy stones and having to sit in the stone quarry for long hours inhaling dust from the the volcanic soil got around the foothills.
