“It's crazy how much has melted since last year...”
All over Switzerland, these murmurs echo around the glaciers, like an expression of shared concern

At the foot of the Moiry Glacier, in the Anniviers Valley, Emmanuel Reynard observes these upheavals. A professor of physical geography at the Faculty of Geosciences and Environment at the University of Lausanne, he is also the director of the Interdisciplinary Mountain Research Centre (CIRM). A specialist in geomorphology — the science of landforms and relief — he is interested in what is called geoheritage: remarkable landscapes, geological curiosities, natural monuments that tell the story of our territories.

But here, the melting is not just a subject of study. It is a visual shock, a collective observation. The retreat of the ice is rapid, visible, and undeniable. It thus becomes much more than a natural phenomenon: a powerful symbol of climate change.
