The Cursed Alpine Pastures
This video gathers the testimonies of several inhabitants of Anniviers around a single mystery: every year, during the transhumance at Moiry, the cows always become frightened at the same bend, with no one able to explain why

In this Swiss mountain valley, some stories are passed down from generation to generation. Once told during evening gatherings, by the fireside, they were later recorded in books and learned by storytellers, eventually becoming an essential part of Anniviers’ folklore.
One might think that in our time, the tradition of orally transmitted stories has disappeared. Yet it endures. New tales continue to appear and circulate in the villages, some already bearing the seeds of legends yet to come. Observing this transmission helps us understand how, in the past, seemingly ordinary or mysterious events could give rise to the great legends that have survived through the generations to reach us today.
Thus, a simple event can become a story, then a rumor, before spreading and embedding itself in collective memory. The tale I share here becomes part of this living tradition: a story that calls forth others, linking the present to the past and reviving forgotten legends.
