The music heritage of the Batwa has been influenced for years by their connection to the forest's of Ichuya, Bwindi and Mgahinga were they use to live before their eviction

One such influence is heard from the sound of the Omudhuri, an instrument made from a curved stick got from the Macadamia tree, very rare to find, but still exists in the forest where they used to live. It's connected to a white pumpkin and metal string to give its sound depth. Currently the Batwa can only imitate this instrument with other species of trees and pumpkins types because the forest is inaccessible to them. Conservation of the Omudhuri is at risk since the habitat of the Batwa and environment has changed and is shifting from the forest life they used to know.
