In “The Waters of Cajazeiras”, we are invited to embark on a poetic and visual journey that takes us to the heart of a community deeply connected to its waters

The documentary “The Waters of Cajazeiras” reveals stories, traditions and challenges faced over time. Through vivid accounts and striking images, we are transported to a time when the rivers, despite their reddish and murky waters, were sources of life and sustenance for the residents.

The moving testimonies of the inhabitants of Cajazeiras bring up memories of a past when water was not just a resource, but an integral element of the community's cultural and social identity. We see detailed descriptions of how the local lakes and rivers shaped everyday life, from food to recreational activities.

The documentary's narrative also addresses environmental changes and the impacts of urbanization on these bodies of water. The transformation of natural landscapes and increasing pollution and deforestation are recurring themes, raising questions about sustainability and the urgent need to preserve these vital resources.

With stunning cinematography, “The Waters of Cajazeiras” not only informs, but also invites reflection on the importance of water and forests in our lives and the collective responsibility to protect them for future generations. This documentary is an ode to the resilience and spirit of a community that, despite the challenges, continues to fight for the preservation of its natural resources and, consequently, its very essence.
