The village of Waithou Phunal Maring, located 16.8 kilometers away from Imphal, hosts the 'Lairembi Chanou Tamba' celebration of the ancient Maring Community of Manipur annually

Lamkalai, which translates to "cleaning the route where the Goddess will go through," is an important part of the preparations before starting this ritual. The event begins with the village's elderly males welcoming the Goddess and the females involved in the process of making Waiyu (rice husk based wine) while dancing and singing to commemorate the occasion. The celebration takes place every year in the month of Mera (usually September or October) right before paddy harvesting. The villagers sing the song after welcoming the Goddess.
