Gradually, they drifted back into the wax-painting room, the music still filling the air…
This video captures an ordinary yet intimate moment in the lives of the batik ladies at Ninghang Batik. Beyond making batik, they take breaks to share fruit and snacks. In the summertime, they often gather around the stone table outside the workshop, enjoying slices of watermelon to cool down from the heat.
They form a tightly bonded family—more like sisters than colleagues—supporting and caring for one another through chatting, laughing, and sharing both the joyful and the difficult moments in their lives.
