The ancestors of Chakpa Phayeng have been using Yu (Rice Wine) since the very beginning

Yoo plays an integral part in the lives of the Chakpa Community in Phayeng. Yu is used in almost all ritual ceremonies from birth until death. It is also used in the rituals related to the Lai deities.

Yu is made from rice and normally takes up to six days to make. It is usually done by women folk and plays an important role in keeping the tradition alive and also supports the running of the family economically.
